Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that meets the basic needs of individuals and families while inspiring HOPE for lasting change, providing long-term solutions and programs that break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Open Door Mission’s campus offers 816 safe, shelter beds to homeless men, women, and children while serving over 2,000 hot nutritious meals and providing preventive measures to more than 275 people living in poverty.
Candace Gregory is President/CEO for Open Door Mission with over 20 years spent implementing community prevention programs to help combat homelessness and poverty. Open Door Mission has changed the lives of families in Omaha for over 60 years. The first program in 1954 provided services for men. Soon Open Door Mission added the Garland Thomspon Men’s Center, The Lydia House for Women & Families, The Women and Family Center, The Rebuilding Lives Center, Permanent Supportive Housing, The Timberlake Outreach Center, and Life Changing Programs like New Life Recovery Program (NLRP), Journey to Work Program, Veteran’s Housing First Program, AfterCare Program, Work Net, 2911 SuccessNet, and Children and Youth.
